Our services

EPC Works

  • Effective project delivery for critical infrastructure projects
  • Co-ordination of design, procurement, and construction services to ensure that performance, delivery, and completion of projects meets our customers’ expectations.
  • Multi-disciplined team with extensive knowledge and experience in developing Gas Peaking and Battery Energy Storage balancing systems.

Battery Energy Storage Systems

Power Service Installations offers a variety of battery energy storage solutions to help capture surplus onsite energy. The energy is then available on demand for use when needed. By increasing the percentage of self-generated power, you will also be able to reduce your overall energy costs. We work with a number of battery manufacturers offering a range of different battery solutions to meet the needs and applications of our customers.

Whether it is a domestic wall or rack-mounted unit or a commercial or industrial containerised battery storage solution, as a specialist HV electrical contractor, we ensure that your battery system operates efficiently and effectively, and we carry out the complete installation, including all HV work, CDM and civil construction.

STOR : Short Term Operating Reserve

UK energy demand is effectively and efficiently met by STOR, which remains a sustainable source of energy generation.

STOR plays an instrumental role in de-carbonising the UK power market delivering low-carbon energy at a competitive price while supporting renewables and mandated coal exit by 2025.

Furthermore, Gas Peaking Plant is also future-proof and can be easily converted to run on Hydrogen once it becomes more commercially viable.

PSI aspires to be the leading EPC contractor for the renewable and sustainable energy market. To date, our founders have delivered more than 300MW of STOR energy to the UK energy markets.

Private HV Networks & Transformers

Contestable works and Private HV Networks.

The reliability and quality of cable joints and termination on your HV infrastructure will challenge the integrity of any ageing system.

PSI will review your entire HV network to test its effectiveness, make recommendations, and carry out any work. It is likely that with ageing assets the efficiency of your network may be compromised and costing your business money.

Typically, upgrading ageing distribution transformers to modern more efficient units can make huge energy savings. A transformer may have a lifespan of up to 30 years, depending on the type of transformer at your site and its operational intensity. However, the older your transformer, the less efficient it will be and the more energy efficiency gains you will receive from an eco-tier 2 transformer. Transformer upgrades can save energy and money with a return on investment that could be achieved in around two years!

Earthing

Earthing design

All studies and solutions to complex earthing situations

In high-voltage earthing, there are a lot more subtleties – often involving complex modelling packages, such as CDEGS (Current Distribution, Electromagnetic Fields, Grounding and Soil Structure Analysis). PSI provides Earthing design along with all associated studies and solutions to complex earthing situations.

Voltage Regulation

Inconsistent voltage or fluctuations in your businesses voltage supply can cause damage to your equipment as well as trip sensitive electrical equipment or cause premature burnout.

At PSI, we install voltage regulation systems that reduce your electricity consumption, reduce energy costs, and reduce your carbon emissions, as well as protecting and optimising electrical equipment.

Overall energy savings could be as much as 10% – 20% with a return on investment of 2-3 years in lower energy costs, lower maintenance costs and in extending the life of the electrical equipment they are protecting.

This alone may justify the cost of replacing or upgrading the equipment and makes a positive contribution to climate change.

Design

Complete electrical and civil design packages

We offer full CDM design layout and installation plans for HV installations, Substations, Civils, Co-energy, EV, STOR and Battery Energy Storage systems. All aspects of the electrical design are managed by us, from the initial planning and survey to the project management of plant construction and live installations.

Our engineers have extensive experience in developing cost-effective and practical solutions for electrical equipment installations and substation design.  Additionally, PSI can provide the technical reporting that is needed for project approval

Civil and Electrical Design Services:

Our engineers evaluate and mitigate the risks associated with civil and structural works, such as the laying of cables, trenching, and other relevant activities. Pre-planning and engineering options assessments are carried out including site surveys to assess environmental issues such as ground conditions and to identify any existing infrastructure.

LV Electrical Works

Industrial and Commercial Works

PSI carries out work for industrial electrical power applications. This includes everything from the utility service point of entry, to on-site energy generation, power distribution, UPS systems, battery energy storage, power quality, grounding and power protection.

As part of a larger industrial or HV installation contract, commercial electrical installation works are carried out. Our services include the design and installation of power systems, electrical wiring infrastructure, lighting and distribution boards, as well as the installation, repair, maintenance, and testing of these systems.

Combined Heat & Power

Combined Heat and Power (CHP) is the simultaneous production of both electrical and thermal energy.  Fundamentally, it is a gas reciprocating engine coupled to an alternator to generate electricity.  Heat is recovered from both the engine and exhaust gases and can be utilised to supplement other on-site manufacturing processes requiring heat.  PSI can also install smaller low-pressure units.  These are ideal for additional in-house electrical generation complementing the demand for both electrical energy and providing  domestic hot water.
